Crochet sparrow keychain pattern — nine pieces, 43 rounds, no neck seam

A free crochet sparrow keychain pattern for a bird about 6 cm tall, not counting the ring, worked on a 2.0–2.5 mm hook in six colours across nine small pieces. The head is worked first, from the crown down, and the body carries straight on from the twelve stitches the head closes to, so the neck is a change of colour rather than a seam. All 43 rounds are written out below in the pattern's own Spanish abbreviations — pb, aum, dism — each one glossed to its English equivalent, and each round carrying the count it ends on.

Maths verified, not yet made. Every one of the 43 rounds was checked against the round before it by machine — the counts, the increases and the decreases all add up. What nobody can promise you yet is how it sits in the hand. How we check

Why it is rated Medium

Medium because of the join: the body is worked straight onto the head's last twelve stitches, so the two have to be counted as one piece and the colour change lands mid-decrease.

Tension
Tight enough that the stuffing cannot show between the stitches. Every piece here is small, so an even fabric matters more than a particular size.

The hook is given as a range because fine cotton varies. Go down a size rather than up — at this scale a loose stitch shows the stuffing before it shows anywhere else.

Twelve rounds worked from the crown down: out to thirty stitches over five, four rounds straight, then in to twelve where the beige begins.Set the eyes between rounds 7 and 8, six or seven stitches apart, while the head is still thirty stitches around. Once round 12 brings it in to twelve, the backs are awkward to reach.

Four questions this pattern answers

Not questions anybody asked. Each one is written from this pattern's own record, and every answer is read off the fields it names.

How many pieces make up the gorrión (sparrow)?

Nine pieces from seven lists: the page mirrors the wings and the cheeks, writing those lists out a second time. The page writes out 43 rounds in all, the longest piece being the head at 12 and the shortest the beak at 2.

How much yarn will the gorrión (sparrow) take?

Six colours, all weight 2, and the pattern asks for marrón claro: scraps; marrón oscuro: scraps; beige: scraps; blanco: scraps; negro: scraps; gris: scraps.

What hook will the gorrión (sparrow) need, and what is the finished size?

A 2.0–2.5 mm crochet hook. Finished, it comes out ~6 cm tall, not counting the ring; the leading tilde is there because that came off the stitch counts rather than a tape measure.

How long will the gorrión (sparrow) take to crochet?

About two and a half hours. That is 43 rounds across nine pieces, and the hours are an estimate rather than a timing of anybody making it.
