Tulip crochet pattern — two blooms on two stems, 41 rounds written out

A bunch of two tulips standing about 11 cm tall, each bloom about 2.5 cm across, worked on a 2.5 mm hook in two colours over about two hours. The stem is the odd list here: twenty-five rounds of the same six stitches with no shaping anywhere in them, and a length of floral wire slid inside is the only thing that holds a tulip up. Every one of the 41 rounds is written out below across three lists that make four pieces, and every round shows the stitch count it finishes on.

Maths verified, not yet made. Every one of the 41 rounds was checked against the round before it by machine — the counts, the increases and the decreases all add up. What nobody can promise you yet is how it sits in the hand. How we check

  • 4 render matches the pattern — no image has been compared against its own prompt, so a render showing a piece the rounds do not make would not be caught here. Nothing has counted how many do.
  • 6a recognisability — provenance.recognisability is empty in every pattern, so there is no feature list to check the parts against.
Why it is rated Easy

Easy rather than beginner: the stem is twenty-five rounds of six stitches worked on a 2.5 mm hook, and the wire has to go in before the top closes.

Tight stitches throughout. The bloom is eight rounds and stuffed, so a loose fabric lets the filling show at the tip, and the stem is only six stitches around and wants to be dense enough to grip the wire inside it.

Two notes on the tulip bunch

Read them
01A little stuffing in each bloom, not much — they should stay soft.
02Wire down the stem is what keeps them standing up.

Four questions this pattern answers

Not questions anybody asked. Each one is written from this pattern's own record, and every answer is read off the fields it names.

How many pieces make up the tulip bunch?

Three written lists making four pieces in all, working the stems twice. The page writes out 41 rounds in all, the longest piece being the stems at 25 and the shortest the blooms at 8.

How much yarn will the tulip bunch take?

Two colours, all weight 2, and the pattern asks for scarlet: scraps; leaf: scraps.

What hook will the tulip bunch need, and what is the finished size?

A 2.5 mm hook, US B/1. Finished, it comes out ~11 cm tall, each bloom ~2.5 cm across; the leading tilde is there because that came off the stitch counts rather than a tape measure.

How long will the tulip bunch take to crochet?

About two hours. That is 41 rounds on the page, from three written lists that make four pieces, coming to 444 single crochet, 24 increases and 24 decreases once every piece is worked, and the hours are an estimate rather than a timing of anybody making it.
